Cancellation Policies
At Captain Steve's Charters, we understand that unforeseen events can occur that may cause guests to cancel their trip. Because of this, we strongly encourage all guests to purchase trip insurance to protect their deposit in case they are unable to travel.
Our operating seasons are short. Fishing season is approximately four months, and hunting season is about four months, unlike traditional businesses that operate year-round. Due to this limited timeframe and high demand, the following cancellation policies apply.
Fishing Cancellation Policy
- A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking due to our very short four-month tourist season.
- The remaining balance can be paid by credit card or check if received 30 days prior to your scheduled fishing trip.
- If the balance is not received 30 days prior, the remaining balance is due the morning of the scheduled trip at check-in, cash only, before the boat departs.
Cancellations:
- If you need to cancel and we are able to fill your seat(s) with paying clients, we will refund your deposit.
- If a refund is issued by credit card, please allow 10 business days.
- Refunds issued by check may take up to 21 business days to process.
No-Show Policy:
- If you do not show up for your scheduled trip, the remaining balance will be charged to the card on file. You are responsible for paying the full balance of your trip.
Hunting Cancellation Policy
- Our hunts are commonly booked 1–2 years in advance due to very limited space.
- A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.
Cancellation Deadlines:
- Coastal Black Bear Hunts: Cancellations must be received before January 1st.
- Kodiak Island Deer Hunts: Cancellations must be received before July 1st.
Refunds & Transfers:
- Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to another person or another date if notice is received at least 90 days prior to your scheduled hunt.
Final Payments:
- The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your scheduled hunt by credit card or check.
- If not paid in advance, the remaining balance is due in cash only during check-in on the boat before departure.
